Melody Zuker, LPC/LSSP

Melody is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has more than twenty years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Her easy-going style and compassionate spirit combine with her clinical skills and practical approach to problem-solving to create a comfortable and rewarding therapeutic experience for her clients.  She utilizes an eclectic approach in therapy that is client-centered, yet grounded in evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, family systems, and interpersonal therapies.  She specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, anger issues, stress-management, life-adjustment, grief, eating disorders, child-parent relationship and behavioral issues, family issues, and personal growth.

She is also a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology with extensive experience in working with families and students who have learning differences, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia as well as emotional/mental health issues.  She is adept at recommending specific educational, psychological, and emotional accommodations and interventions geared to the individual learner that can enhance their educational experience.

Her experience has been in private clinical settings as well as in both private and public schools.  She worked for eight years in her own private counseling practice and twelve years as the Director of Counseling and College Guidance and Dean of Students at The Trinity School of Texas, a private Episcopal K-12 day school in Longview, Texas.  She has presented and written on a variety of topics ranging from ADHD, learning disabilities, and behavior management to women’s issues, stress management, college guidance, and parenting.  She has also co-hosted a weekly radio program entitled Parent Talk.

She received her undergraduate training at Baylor University earning a B.S. in Speech Pathology and Special Education.  Her graduate training was at the University of Texas at Tyler earning a Master of Science degree in School Psychology and  in Mental Health Counseling.

She is the parent of adult twin daughters, a step-parent to two adult daughters and the grandparent of five granddaughters and 2 grandsons.  She is married and currently raising two Yorkshire Terriers.

Melody is passionate about helping people of all ages and especially young people to feel understood and ready to explore the personal changes that can lead them to a more satisfying and productive life.
